Plugable’s new USB-C dock is small enough to be mistaken a hub but has room for seven ports. And that includes dual 4K HDMI ports that can be used even with Macs that ordinarily support only one external monitor.

The USB-C HDMI Docking Station also has USB and Ethernet ports, as well as an SD card reader.

Add two 4K screens to MacBook anywhere you go

MacBooks built around the basic Apple M1 or M2 processor only support one external display. Those who use these macOS computers in home offices sometimes find this a limitation.

The Plugable USB-C HDMI Docking Station can be used to overcome this limit. It requires a DisplayLink software driver to be installed, but lets users attach two displays with up to 4K resolution at 60Hz.

And it’s just getting warmed up.

All the dock requires is a connection to a single USB-C port on the Mac, and adds two USB-C ports, one that supports 100W pass-through charging, with the MacBook receiving up to 82W. The other USB-C port offers up to 10 Gbps data transfers. A USB-A port for legacy accessories can also transfer data at up to to 10Gbps.

In addition, the accessory has a Gigabit Ethernet port and an SD card reader.
